Cleveland, OH – Jan. 2, 2019 – With the incorporation of a Fishing Expo presented by Fisherman’s Central, this year’s Progressive Cleveland Boat Show will give Clevelanders the rare opportunity to meet and get tips from some of fishing’s elite. Among the headliners slated for appearances are national million-dollar money winners like David Dudley, the all-time FLW money winner with over $2.2 million; Fat Cat Newton, dubbed the “Mountain Man” from Virginia and noted for his comedic on-stage style; and Randall Tharp, one of only two anglers to win both the prestigious Forrest Wood Cup and the Bassmaster Elite Series title. But this isn’t just a boys club, and two of the top pros on the Ladies Bass Anglers Association circuit, Lori Povisil and Beth Mills, will be on site to share their tournament-tested techniques as well.
As per usual, the show’s “biggest” stars will be the boats! Boat lovers will be surrounded by more than 400 new boats, including everything from power and sailboats to million-dollar motor yachts. Boats never seen before will also make their debut, including the self-propelled, fully-fish-rigged Hobie Pro Angler, which will get its premiere showing on the Buckeye Sports Fishing Stage. For all those looking for smaller watercrafts, the show will also include an impressive display of kayaks, paddleboards, jet skis and much more!
Anglers will find one-stop-shopping with a variety of major tackle and equipment displays, and they will also enjoy numerous bass, walleye, steelhead and general fishing seminars. They’ll also have the opportunity to experience casting & flipping challenges at the Casting Lake; daily seminars from Atop the Berkley 5,000-gallon Bass Aquarium with Ohio outdoor radio personality Dan Armitage; make-your-own lures at the Lure-making Academy, kayak fishing seminars by members of the Hobie Pro Fishing Team, and much more!
With a generous offering of kid-friendly events, this year’s show is one for the whole family to enjoy. Kids will enjoy an all-new “Kids Zone” which will include a number of hands on crafts including building a “mini boat,” a variety of fishing activities including a catch and release trout pond, and a Kids Casting Challenge with prizes for those who successfully hit the floating targets. Kids can also take the helm and throttle of a Boston Whaler in the U.S. Power Squadron display’s multi-screen simulator. Finally, “Family Day” will take place on Monday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) and will include a variety of live family entertainment, a PyrateFest Treasure Hunt for kids, and much more!
Bring your bathing suit and hop in the Go Dive Now Pool to get a FREE scuba lesson from Big Wave Dave, and check out the incredible Lyman Boat Works Historical Museum display, or the sensational virtual sailing exhibit. Enjoy food and drink from your favorite island restaurants too. Grab a beer and take in a game of cornhole at Twin Oast, and warm up with lobster bisque at The Boardwalk. Enjoy live island music from the likes of Pat Shepard and other island favorites. It may be cold inside, but it’ll feel like warm, island living inside this year’s show!
