More than 40,000 boaters and wannabes will see the largest Cleveland Boat Show in a decade when it docks for 5 days in Cleveland’s I-X Center, January 17-21.

“We are adding a lot more exhibits and family attractions to Ohio’s oldest and largest boating and fishing expo,” explains Michelle Burke, president of the Lake Erie Marine Trades Association.  “We are also adding an extra day to the show’s schedule to increase the opportunity for people to attend.”

Specifically, Burke has announced the extra day will be declared “Kid’s Day” on Monday, January 21, because it’s the Martin Luther King holiday and schools and many offices are closed. It will be an opportune time to experience the summer atmosphere that the boat show brings into the I-X.

The line-up of features and hands-on activities are intended to make a visit to the show fun for the entire family. “After all, boating is America’s number one family sport,” says Burke “so we want everything at our boat show reflect that.”

A random sampling includes: an all-new comedy show with Twiggy, the world famous water skiing squirrel (yes, she’s coming out of retirement to return to Cleveland); the Berkley 5,000-gallon fish aquarium show; top tournament anglers on stage; a new sailing center; the inaugural Lake Erie Crafts Market; a first-ever Kelly’s Island Sunday Fun Day; dozens of hands-on activities like the kid’s casting challenges; live musical entertainment with Lake Erie Islands entertainers including Ray Fogg, West Side Steve and Pat Sheppard; live paddleboard demonstrations; boat racing simulators and much more.

“The stars of the show will be the more than 400 power and sailboats on display,” emphasizes Burke. “From kayaks to big cruisers, virtually all major brands will be represented by dealers from across Ohio. It’s a one-stop shopping opportunity for boats and there are special show prices and incentives for buyers, too,” she adds.

This year’s boat show hours will be: Opening Thursday and Friday (Jan. 17-18) – 12 Noon to 9PM; Saturday (Jan. 19) 10AM to 9PM; Sunday (Jan. 20) 10AM to 6PM. Monday, special Martin Luther King KIDS DAY, (Jan. 21) 10AM to 5 PM.
