One of the largest (figuratively, of course) animal stars in the world takes center stage each year at the Cleveland Boat and Waterfront Lifestyle Expo. Twiggy the water-skiing squirrel - now in her 26th year touring the world - performs daily at the ten-day event.

A Florida gray squirrel, Twiggy will cruise around a 25-foot circular heated pool on a miniature pair of water skis, towed behind a radio-controlled Ski Nautique powerboat operated by her trainer, Lou Ann Best of Sanford, Florida.

Having recently returned from overseas, Twiggy has a resume to make any world-class skier jealous. She's been featured on dozens of TV shows such as "Late Night with David Letterman," "Good Morning America," "Animal Planet's Amazing Animals," not to mention at boat shows and fairs around the globe. Plus, you may have seen Twiggy on the big screen in "Anchor Man," "Dodgeball" and "Down to Earth."

Routinely performing several times each day, each Twiggy performance draws a crowd. Her appeal knows no age boundaries, delighting both young and old.

In 1978, Chuck and Lou Ann Best took in the gray squirrel when Hurricane David blew her from her treetop nest. The couple, avid water skiers, wanted to introduce the new family member to their favorite water sport. Using repetition, affection, and an ample supply of nuts, they taught Twiggy to ski on foot-long foam skis behind one of their children's radio-controlled boats. People began to take notice of this extraordinary feat and bookings poured in.

Spectators are encouraged to bring their cameras to capture Twiggy in action or be photographed with this amazing squirrel after each performance.
